 he community of the FRANCISCANUM has resided in Assisi since 1925, year when the Conventual Friars began their formative activity.
From 1925 until today, the Franciscanum has prepared more than 900 religious-students both Italians and other nationalities, to a large extent for missionary activities, in Africa, America and Asia.
The community of the Franciscanum is a communal fraternity of men who believe in the Gospel: they are brothers, because they welcome in goodness the paternity of God, the fraternity of Christ and the communion of the Holy Spirit Saint, namely, the Trinity, which is the source, the model and the means of fraternity.
The Community continues the path of the Franciscan discipleship, through the varied dimensions of human, spiritual, community, theological and pastoral growth.
It is usually a period of four years and it prepares the youth for the full and definitive donation of oneself, whether through the perpetual religious profession, or in the service of Christian community through the offices of the Diaconate and the Priesthood. In this context, the Community of the Franciscanum grows and forms the person with a comparison to the life of St. Francis and, therefore, in the Spirit in Assisi it also draws the person to the need for ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, and to the promotion of justice and peace between people, to the respect of life and the safeguard of ecology.
